This is what it's all about

April 24

This week seems to have felt a lot longer than it actually was. It was pretty stressful with the closing of the branch and everything. We also had interviews this week and a baptismal service and it was very taxing mentally.

Last Monday we played baseball with a member. It was a lot of fun. He is Dutch, but loves baseball. Today for p day we had a zone pday and all met up in a park in Antwerpen and had a barbecue and played some voetbal. My comp and I grilled some ribs. They were good, but European meat is definitely different than American meat. I miss some good old Sweet Baby Rays.

Interviews were good as always. President Bunnell is my friend.

On Friday, we had a baptism for a couple friends. We are both family of a member here who did a great job at using his influence to introduce his family members to the gospel. One of them is his young son, so I suppose it was a little easier in his case. But he did ask his father personally if he could be baptized to initiate the process, so he does get the credit in the end. The other is also family. He made some fast changes, especially in the last couple weeks in order to qualify for baptism. It was a fantastic service and served to help also with the transition into the new ward in Antwerpen that we are now a part of.

Sunday church was awesome. I have totally forgotten what it is like to have a lot of members all meet together. It was weird. There are now 10 missionaries serving within the boundaries of that ward now.

A (now mostly active) man we have been working with showed up to the new church building with his wife and 4 kids, none of which are members. They have never come in the past and I was super surprised to see him make the sacrifice and drive the 45 minutes to get there. We are helping him go to the temple again. One of his greatest desires has been to be sealed to his family, and this big step seems to be the first step in realizing his miraculous goals. This last week he was on vacation in Paris and he brought me back a miniature Eiffel tower.
