Snow

Image
This week was a harder week. We had a lot of frustrated plans and appointments fall through. Probably more than 10 appointments fell through. But it was okay because we got in and set up appointments with other people that we did not anticipate meeting. We even found 2 solid referrals for other missionaries to teach in their cities. Now we just have to figure out how to get our own investigators. It snowed this week. That is pretty rare for this part of Belgium. It used to snow a lot mmore about 50 years ago or so, but not very much anymore. The snow as nice in the morning, but my midday, it was a layer of crunchy ice that looked like snow. We offered to help a lady salt her driveway, and she said that she has been living there 40 years and we are the only people to ever offer her help with anything. She didn't want the help, but it is a seed planted. Also helps to build the American reputation up around here. That was a funny video with the dog and the horse mask

Cold and Fat

This has been quite a cold week. A thick fog has settled in and this past week when we have been riding our bikes, the fog collects on our clothes and then freezes so we are covered with a layer of ice.   Elder Stanworth is off to Utrecht. I now have Elder Van Fleet from Payson Utah. He has 2 transfers left. He was one of my district leaders in Breda. He was also one of the missionaries that Aunt Emily met on the plane when she was going to Russia. He plays the harmonica and makes puns all of the time. He is super funny and we are having a lot of fun here in Geel. We have a ton of food. We have dinner appointments and members are giving us food and since we had to be in by 4 we decided to cook a leg of lamb. Now we have a ton of leftovers. We also had a dinner appointment with a Russian member last night and she cooked a ton of Russian food gave us a bunch of leftovers. We barely had room in our fridge. We have had some crazy nights this past week of missed bus

Belgian people are easier to talk to because they are not as blunt as the dutch people. But that also means that you an waste a lot of time on conversations that go nowhere. But they in general tend to be not so scared of religion. I think the Dutch are scared of religion. Or at least angry about it because of the many bad things that have been done in the name of religion. What kind of european likes Trump? There are a ton of dialects of Dutch. I have no idea. Castle in Antwerpen For Dad--the christmas markets are still here. In every city there is a whole area in the center of town usually ust outside of the church where they put up a lot of booths and food trucks. There are a lot of cultural foods. They also put up a lot of ice skating rinks at the christmas markets. We are going ice skating today. We are also going to play some pool with a recent convert. In Ghana you have many names. you take your fathers name, and last name. Usually you are called by the name associa

I got the box thank you. The Christmas tree is all set up except for the lights. and there is one piece missing. But is looks good. Thanks for the deodorant. It is so much nicer than the kinds that they use in Europe. The work in Belgium is just about the same as in the Netherlands. The people here are not so blunt, so it can be a bit nicer not getting chewed out on every door, but if you are not careful you will end up wasting a lot of time on people that are not actually interested. There are a few african members in our branch. There are more foreigners in Belgium because it is easier to get a visa here. The branch members here are awesome. There are a few recent converts and returned members that we are tight with. The elders quorum president has been taking us around on sundays to look up less active members and and fed us every sunday while I have been here. That is somebody who magnifies his calling. He sacrifices his time and gas and comfort every Sunday to bring ot
