Hedgehogs ALIVE. Bound to be better

We should have had an awful week here, but things turned out for the better every day. We had actually gotten several lessons planned, about 4 or 5. ON Monday, our appointment went through, but the guy had not started reading the Book yet, so we did not have much to talk about. But it was good to talk to him and he told us if we come back in 2 or so weeks, he will have read some. Tuesday, our lesson did not go through. The guy was home though, because we caught him watching us through his balcony window. It was an old investigator though, so not anybody new, and it was okay. We got let in later that evening by another old investigator and got to teach him a little and make a new appointment. He is from Africa, and said that the next time his friend takes a trip to Africa, he will order us a couple African shirts. Sweet.

When nothing else is on the schedule one can always hunt for hedgehogs

On Wednesday, we had district meeting. Then we went straight out to a far appointment about an hour by bus. This guy was a referral from online, and usually these are pretty good. These tend to go pretty far with the lessons, and a lot actually get baptized, so we were pretty excited, thinking that we were going to get a solid investigator. But when we got there, he didn't open the door. And we were pretty annoyed for having come so far. We hadn't eaten dinner, but going home was going to be a long venture, and we needed to use our time effectively, so we knocked in this kleine dorpje where he lives. That day, we found a cool potential that loves america and had seen the Salt Lake Temple, so he invited us to come by another time and we can talk. Later we found an awesome lady on the door. We taught the whole restoration lesson on the door and gave a Book of Mormon. She said we could come back, but in a month or so, so that she could read it. We tried to get an earlier appointment, but she was pretty adamant. We knocked the rest of the night in this tiny village and went home and ate dinner at 9:00. We do that a lot. Thursday, our dinner appointment called and cancelled, and we later, our other appointment cancelled, and I was so fed up with cancellations that I was pretty grumpy. So we looked up potentials all day, and found out that one strong potential who had a Book had moved, and everybody else was either sick or not home. After dinner, it was already dark, and knocking on doors after dark is not very fun, because people are not usually super happy and you do't want to wake up any kids. Besides everybody has a dog, and every dog barks when somebody is on the door. But on the first door that opened, we got let in by a man who had been living on the streets for 10 years. He now had a house, but only thanks to God. He had actually been to the Mormon church before 30 or so years ago, but got scared when some people told him some rumors. We have no idea what will happen with him but it was pretty cool.

Found soursop drink!

On Friday, we had to travel to Leiden. All district leaders go get Belgian drivers licences, just in case if they go zone leader. I cant get it because Arizona licences last too long and Belgium doesn't like that. So I stayed in the office all day while all the other new district leaders and my comp went on a day trip to Belgium. On our way back, we talked to a dutch girl studying in Leiden, and taught her the whole first lesson on the train. It was pretty cool. Saturday was the day of our Fufu dinner appointment, and that was cancelled. SO we were both pretty peeved with appointments that fall through. But by this point, I had already seen that when appointments fall through, the lord has other plans. So we were expecting something big that afternoon. We went and looked up a recently gone inactive member here, and it turns out that they want nothing ever to do with the church again. That was not fun. IN the after noon, we still decided to go to the area of our cancelled appointment and do some knocking, but as we were going to switch buses in the middle of nowhere, the bus left early, and we were stranded in a tourist town in the middle of nowhere with no map. The next bus was in an hour, so we went in search of some houses to knock that were not worth a billion dollars. At length, we found a neighborhood, and knocked the whole evening. We came to a house where the lady was not interested, but we asked her what she could tell us about her beliefs. She opened up and we talked to her for a really long time. She was awesome. She believes in something good that is higher than us, and we identified that as God. She talked about an enabling power that allows us to make big changes and do hard things beyond our normal capacity. We identified that as Jesus Christ. And then she talked about a really good feeling of peace and comfort, so we identified that as the Holy Ghost. It was like teaching King Lamonis father. Eventually, she admitted that she had been not praying, but "sending thoughts to that higher being" the evening before, and asked in her head if she could have a cool conversation with a couple people the next day. Which was not too surprising because I had prayed that we could be the answer to somebody's prayer the next day. Anyway, we have a new appointment this week.

Other things this week were that we found some baby hedgehogs later that night on our way home because we were late.
