But the good news is...

If you want the honest answer this was a really rough week. It was another week without bikes, Elder Stevenson was throwing up over the weekend, I lost my scriptures on a bus, Elder Stevenson lost a backpack full of stuff on a train, none of our lookups were home, joint teaches fell through, investigators did not come to church, and only 1 DA and 1 lesson taught. But it is like what you said about vacation. I really am enjoying working here. Every day is good. But when we tallied everything up at the end of the week, things were really bad.

The good news, is the nuts that I ordered came in so now we will have bikes again. And somebody turned in my scriptures, so I should get them back in a week or two. We are not sure about Elder Stevenson's backpack. And everybody is finally back from vacation so we got a few DAs. 

This week, we were in Grongingen for stake conference, in Apeldoorn on Wednesday working with the Zone Leaders, and in Zwolle on Thursday on exchanges with the elders there. So we did a lot of traveling. Apeldoorn is a large enough city that I almost felt like I was in downtown Scottsdale a couple times. It was the first time that I have actually been in a real city in a while. Even Breda and Zwolle are not big enough to have that kind of industrial sort of feeling. 

Is Orion still living at the Gardeners? Working as a butcher? I have not heard form him or Braxton in a long time. Why has he lost weight? What is he working towards? Still going to church? Tell him that I will be ready to cream him in ping pong when he gets back. There is a ping pong table at the Zwolle church and a couple other elders are pretty good. But I am getting a lot better with topspin. We play before district meeting every week. 

Being district leader doesn't really change much. I don't feel any smarter are more powerful. But it is hard because I feel that I have to really be performing well so that I am actually in a position to be able to lead others. I know that it has nothing to do with getting more power, but it is a call to step up to a higher level of performance. It is really hard to do that here because things are not booming, but we have a ton of potentials right now and one of these days some of them and going to shape up and actually let us in. 



But the good news is that things are are always shaping up, because flauw investigators and potentials drop off and we don't have to worry about them anymore, and we actually ahve a lady now that is sticking and she is actually retaining a great amount of what she is reading about in the Book of Mormon. This next week should be good.

The funny thing about this picture is the angle. Packard is a good 8 inches taller than his com.  Everything is a little less exciting now that it is the second week, but it is still good. I have started to get a little homesick now that I can not really speak to anybody comfortable but my companion, but I will get over it. Our investigators are doing well. Efrem worried us a little bit this week. He is going to school so that he can get into politics and help fight fro freedom in his home country. He is nervous about getting baptized because he doesn't want to have to make a commitment to God and then lie in politics. He was forced into the militia there at age 16 and was shot 3 times. He is awesome though. He has a good testimony and everything. He is also worried that the gangsters that his country have in Holland are going to hunt him down and kill him. Tall Baller Dutchies

So this week we found out that our district is getting a bit famous around here. We have heard from a couple different sources that we are referred to by everybody as the Tall Baller Dutchies or something of the sort. We have been trying to talk to new people a lot but this is a little surprising because there are so many missionaries circulating, but I guess it is starting to become a thing.  I have been learning how to play basketball from my companions a lot now, so i am actually not that bad anymore. I try to go and lift for a little towards the end of each gym time so i do not get super weak. One hour is not enough time. I gained a few pounds in the first couple of weeks but I started eating just a bowl of oatmeal or plain shredded wheat in the morning, and then alternating between an actual meal and just a salad for lunch and dinner so now I am back to my original weight. The Province of Drenthe

This week was very frustrating, but also rewarding. I suppose that is the normal thing to happen week to week as a missionary. The bane of our week was the stolen bike nuts. We spent a lot of time on p day last week looking for a place to buy those, and ran out of time. We didn't want to take time out of our week to look for them but having them seemed like a simple task and something that would ultimately save a lot of time. But the axle of my front tire is not metric, and we went to bike shop after bike shop and 3 hardware stores trying to find just the two nuts that would fit, but no luck. Apparently they do not know what anything but metric is and I am going to see if I can order some with fast shipping. We probably spent at least 7 hours in search of these parts. The worst part was that the first bike shop that I went to sole me a couple metric nuts that obviously did not fit. I did not realize it until we got home and tried to tighten them, and they charged me 4 euro for the
