Temple and transfer to Belgium

Going to the temple was nice this week. It was like a good drink of water. Unfortunately it took the whole day. We had to catch the 6:15 am train and we got back home at about 10:00pm. But we had a good conference and I saw most of my group there. They had us split into 2 zones over 3 days. Someone else has the picture. Every conference we all sing the dutch birthday song to those who will be jarig. This time I got to lead the song, but someone else also has the video. 

Thank you for sending the rattlesnake eggs. They are making the best spiritual thoughts. We have had a few priceless screams. 

As for Trump, everybody else in the world seems to be mourning. Nobody opened their door this week. The funny thing was that the only people that mentioned it to us on Wednesday were really happy that he one. Probably the only two happy people here about it. I wore the Trump tie to the temple, on Wednesday and to church on Sunday. I did not show anybody the back, but I got a few compliments. They funniest thing about the tie is that it is made in China.

Bad thing about the week is that the investigator that came to church a couple weeks ago dropped us this week. She finds it too stressful to make appointments, and is still interested to come to church again, but wont make any commitments, so it is kind of a waste of time to try to work with somebody that is not willing to make any effort. It was not a very good afternoon. 

It is getting very cold. I dont think it got over 4 degrees Celsius this week at all. There is a large pond by us that is now frozen over. The ice is too think to play on. It snowed on Tuesday after we got home from the temple. 

I am transferring to Belgium on Wednesday.

 I am going to a tiny place called Geel. 


The cool thing about Belgium is that the train pass is unlimited the whole month, so I can go anywhere in Belgium for P day for free.

 My new com is going to be Elder Stanworth. I am replacing Elder Dearden. It is strange because Elder Dearden and I will have served in the same 3 first places now. I dont know where he is going. Elder Stanworth was also trained in Breda and I replaced him when I first came into the land.

The funny thing about this picture is the angle. Packard is a good 8 inches taller than his com.  Everything is a little less exciting now that it is the second week, but it is still good. I have started to get a little homesick now that I can not really speak to anybody comfortable but my companion, but I will get over it. Our investigators are doing well. Efrem worried us a little bit this week. He is going to school so that he can get into politics and help fight fro freedom in his home country. He is nervous about getting baptized because he doesn't want to have to make a commitment to God and then lie in politics. He was forced into the militia there at age 16 and was shot 3 times. He is awesome though. He has a good testimony and everything. He is also worried that the gangsters that his country have in Holland are going to hunt him down and kill him. Tall Baller Dutchies

So this week we found out that our district is getting a bit famous around here. We have heard from a couple different sources that we are referred to by everybody as the Tall Baller Dutchies or something of the sort. We have been trying to talk to new people a lot but this is a little surprising because there are so many missionaries circulating, but I guess it is starting to become a thing.  I have been learning how to play basketball from my companions a lot now, so i am actually not that bad anymore. I try to go and lift for a little towards the end of each gym time so i do not get super weak. One hour is not enough time. I gained a few pounds in the first couple of weeks but I started eating just a bowl of oatmeal or plain shredded wheat in the morning, and then alternating between an actual meal and just a salad for lunch and dinner so now I am back to my original weight. The Province of Drenthe

This week was very frustrating, but also rewarding. I suppose that is the normal thing to happen week to week as a missionary. The bane of our week was the stolen bike nuts. We spent a lot of time on p day last week looking for a place to buy those, and ran out of time. We didn't want to take time out of our week to look for them but having them seemed like a simple task and something that would ultimately save a lot of time. But the axle of my front tire is not metric, and we went to bike shop after bike shop and 3 hardware stores trying to find just the two nuts that would fit, but no luck. Apparently they do not know what anything but metric is and I am going to see if I can order some with fast shipping. We probably spent at least 7 hours in search of these parts. The worst part was that the first bike shop that I went to sole me a couple metric nuts that obviously did not fit. I did not realize it until we got home and tried to tighten them, and they charged me 4 euro for the...
