The More the Strife the Prettier the Wife and Other Lessons About Biking in the Rain

nice hat
Sorry I did not get to email yesterday. We were so busy, we had 2 appointments on our pday. I still barely have any time to email today. Elder Ocampo says hi. He is in my district. Also Elder Van Fleet, who was in our district was one of the ones who talked to Aunt Emily on the plane. He is also super cool.

We put in 30 hours of proselyting this week, but our goal these finishing weeks of the transfer is to get 40 hours. The normal mission weekly goal is 23 hours, so we are going to be extremely tired.

This week was super rainy. Elder Stanger always tells me that the more you bike in the rain, the more beautiful your wife will be, but sometimes I think I could settle for an ugly wife. We have to wear helmets, but the only people that wear helmets here are the people doing cross country trips, so we get a lot of wierd looks.

This week we got 3 investigators to come to church, which is super awesome. It was really cool to see their commitment. We want to get as many of our investigators on baptismal date this week because they say that every lesson could be your last.

There was one particular day where we did not have much planned, it seemed that nobody was available that day. After our studies, we tried to figure out what to do, and we succeeded in getting a recent convert lesson. The lesson was completely amazing as we talked over the power prayer, and I truly believe that the convert really understands that. We had her pray in the park to see what direction she needs to take wither her life right now, because she is a some big crossroads. She said the most simple, yet direct prayer ever, and it was the best prayer I have ever heard. She really understood that God was listening. It was the most memorable lesson that I have taught yet, and may be for a long time. Then we felt that we needed to head to a certain part of the city, but also felt that we needed to contact a past investigator in a different area. After praying, we felt prompted to do opposite things. We called the former investigator, and he could not meet at that time but we set up an appointment for that evening. We saw it as the perfect opportunity to do both things, so we grabbed a Book of Mormon in Portuguese for a lookup and headed out the door. The lookup turned out not to be home, but long story short, we talked to person after person who was there to hear us while traveling, and by the time that the evening was over, we had placed 4 Books of Mormon, had 2 awesome lessons, and gotten 2 referrals for other areas. We helped our evening appointment get what he was feeling might be an answer as to whether the r was the true one or not. We will be working with him in the future.

We had zone conference this week, it was super cool. We were supposed to go to Belgium for it but we combined with another zone and had it in Eindhoven, so we did not end up going to Belgium again. The good news is that we are going to get to go to Belgium on Saturday for a baptism of somebody that Elder Stanger taught.

We got haircuts this week for 10 euro, which is a really good deal. Most haircuts are about 20 euro, but these guys were just a couple of Moroccan guys. It is a really good haircut and they fixed the mess that the MTC barber made. They also edged up the hair line with a straight razor, so it is perfect. A perfect european haircut.

This week I am going to try to do better on putting Christ into everything that I teach. I think it is easy to forget that it is his doctrine that we are teaching. I am gong to try to do as Christ told us to do in Matthew 10:32 and confess his name. I want people to know that I believe in Christ.
