2017

2016

On the fourth of July we did a little BBQ for our district meeting lunch. We got some watermelon, braadworsts, bread, soda, and some banana bread, and we ate it all. It was fun. We had couple little disposable bbq things and we grilled the sausages. I dressed up in all American stuff again.

We went bowling as a zone last p day it was fun. The bowling alleys here have strings at the top of the pins, so the pins get pulled upwards when they are reset. I don't think they get knocked over as easy though.

We found a couple new investigators this week. The first guy was someone that we knocked into about a month ago, but he never answered the door. We looked him up again and he said he was sitting in his living room watching TV and thought, I know someone is at the door, but i can just ignore them and keep watching TV and relax. But then he had a thought that maybe God had sent someone to his door, so after a little consideration, he opened the door and there we were. Pretty cool. He talks a lot.

We had some other cool lessons this week with other people. But also lost contact with some people. There was one day where we had our only appointment cancel a few hours in advance, so we decided to go do s finding in a town that we don't visit too often. After a few hours of lookups and knocking with no success, we saw a street called Vigilantestraat, so we said let's go convert Batman.
After a few doors, we knocked on a door, and a guy came down without his keys ( you need your keys to unlock your door from the inside here) and leaned down and said through his mail slot, are you Johovah's witnesses? And we said, no, we are Mormons. Then he yelled Fantastisch! and ran to get his keys. He had never met mormons here before and he for some reason was super excited to meet some real live mormons. So we have an appointment with him this week.

Other than that we actually had a lot of people yelling at us and insulting us and trying to make us angry for some reason. I don't know why. But they usually close their doors before we can ask them to be a little more polite and talk to them. Cowards. An unusual amount of people this week did that.

Also, the elders in Rotterdam called me yesterday to tell me that the lady I talked to in the plaza that one day came to church yesterday. Not only that but she got hooked up with the sisters in that ward and now she is going to go to a language class they are doing on Tuesday, institute with the other young adults on Wednesday, a baptismal service on Saturday, and church again next Sunday. Super cool. I am excited to see what can happen there.

Also I met a woman here on vacation who is a member a couple weeks ago. She is the niece of Grandpa Packard's brother Jay.
